Listed below are the benefits of many such supergreens that we use regularly in our handcrafted products at The Hayagriva Spa.
Kale
Kale is packed with Vitamins A, B, C, and K, as well as antioxidants and phytonutrients. Between all of these things, Kale tightens pores, reduces dark circles, promotes collagen production, increases cell turnover, prevents free-radical damage, and detoxifies the skin.
Wheatgrass & Alfa Alfa
Wheatgrass & Alfa Alfa have potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties due in large part to the fact that they contain chlorophyll. For eons, these have been used topically to help alleviate the symptoms of acne, sores, eczema, psoriasis, and other skin ailments. Apart from topical application, when consumed as shots, they provide various health benefits from their rich nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids. They support immunity, aid detox, and may enhance overall well-being.
Moringa Leaf
Moringa leaf powder is applied topically to the face to prevent wrinkles and skin damage caused by environmental pollutants. It helps tighten facial skin and reduces wrinkles and blemishes, resulting in a more youthful and supple appearance. Moringa shots, usually made from powdered moringa leaves, provide a concentrated source of nutrients and beneficial compounds (vitamins like A, C, and E, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, fiber, amino acids, and magnesium) that support overall health. These benefits include reducing inflammation, enhancing brain and liver health, and boosting energy levels.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a microalgae used in sunscreens, treating skin pigmentation disorders, and healing wounds. Rich in antioxidants like phycocyanin and beta-caroten, it offers benefits for skin health, including reducing signs of aging, protecting against sun damage, brightening skin, promoting collagen, and aiding healing. It also hydrates, reduces inflammation, and may fight acne, brightening skin by inhibiting tyrosinase. Nutritional and health benefits include supporting immunity, lowering cholesterol and blood pressure, aiding detox, and providing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Nutrients include protein, B vitamins, iron, copper, manganese, and essential fatty acids. It lowers LDL and triglycerides, increases HDL, relaxes blood vessels, and reduces blood pressure via nitric oxide.
Gourds
Bottle Gourd and Momordica in skin care can provide multiple skin benefits, such as hydration, anti-aging, and soothing effects. They can also help balance oil production and reduce inflammation. When taken as moderate shots, Bottle Gourd acts as a diuretic, reducing puffiness, bloating, and water retention. Momordica, with its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, helps regulate blood sugar, aids weight management, enhances immunity, and improves digestion. Additionally, they benefit skin and hair health and may support liver detoxification.
Avocado
Avocados provide various skin benefits such as moisturization, anti-aging support, and sun damage protection. They are abundant in vitamins, healthy fats, and antioxidants, promoting a healthier, more radiant complexion. Additionally, avocados are a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which can help reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and boost HDL (good) cholesterol, lowering the risk of heart disease. They also contain potassium and magnesium, which are essential for blood pressure regulation.
